E-Buy Gum – A Bold Brand Identity with a Yorkshire Heart
Introduction
E-Buy Gum is an online store with a proud Yorkshire spirit, offering a range of clothing and household goods that celebrate the region’s unique character. When they approached Kodo Design, they needed a brand identity that would stand out while staying true to their roots.
The Challenge
With a marketplace full of minimalist branding, E-Buy Gum wanted to make a bold statement. The brand needed to capture Yorkshire pride while being visually distinctive and instantly recognizable across both digital and physical spaces.

Crafting a vibrant and dynamic brand identity that reflected E-Buy Gum’s energy and values.
Brand Identity
The Flow Shape – To add a distinct visual element, we replaced the traditional dash in the brand name with a custom “flow” shape. This became a core part of the identity, influencing patterns, website panel designs, and other brand elements.
Colour Palette – We selected a bold and lively combination of purple, coral, and yellow. These colours not only make the brand eye-catching but also reinforce the business’s strong Yorkshire identity.
Typography – A unique and custom typeface was essential to ensure the brand stood out from the crowd.
Website Design
The e-commerce website was designed to be as intuitive and engaging as the brand itself.

Essence Beauty – A Sophisticated and Timeless Brand Identity
Introduction
Essence Beauty is a health and beauty start-up offering a range of services, including dermaplaning, nail aesthetics, and more. When they approached Kodo Design, they sought a sophisticated brand identity that was modern, timeless, and uniquely reflective of their services.
The Challenge
As a new business, Essence Beauty needed a brand identity that would instantly convey elegance, professionalism, and individuality. The challenge was to create a design that felt both luxurious and contemporary while maintaining a connection to the core beauty services they offered.
The Solution
We developed a refined and distinctive brand identity by exploring the deeper meaning behind “essence” and merging it with visual elements inspired by the beauty industry.
Brand Identity
Concept Development – The design process began by analyzing the word “essence” and how it could be translated visually. We combined this with inspiration from the brand’s core services, particularly nail aesthetics.
Typography – A combination of serif and sans-serif typefaces was chosen, striking the perfect balance between timeless elegance and modern minimalism.
The Drop Shape – A custom drop shape was created to symbolize the essence concept while subtly referencing the sleek “stiletto” nail shape. To avoid a flat and basic look, we incorporated custom “waves” into the logo wordmark, giving the drop a liquid-like aesthetic. This not only reinforced the brand’s name but also connected to the fluid nature of nail polishes, beauty products, and nail art.
Colour Palette – A sophisticated yet simple palette was developed, featuring a timeless neutral shade paired with a deep, luxurious purple to convey elegance and refinement.
The Outcome
By crafting a brand identity that was both modern and timeless, we helped Essence Beauty establish a strong presence in the beauty industry. The final result was a brand that exuded sophistication and individuality, setting the stage for long-term recognition and success.
